Shoes for a purple cocktail dress?

For my prom, I'll be wearing a dark purple cocktail dress with a platinum/silver obi sash along the waist. I thought of pairing it with silver peep-toe heels and a silver clutch bag. But then I thought there would be too much silver. So now I'm looking for suggestions on what color and style of shoes and clutch bag to use. :) What do you guys recommend?

Stick to the 3 colour rule.





Never ever ever wear more than 3 colours at once. Since your wearing purple and silver, silver shoes would be fine. If you're worried about too much silver, why not go with purple shoes?





Silver peep-toes will look great though. But don't wear strappy sandal type shoes with a cocktail dress. Stick to chic. The silver clutch sounds good too. Perfect kind of bag for your dress.

ohh and i dont think that the silver and silver would be to much the dress is purple and you would stand out also. :]

Reply:gold shoes, of course! if you're worrying about too much silver in your ensemble, (we dont want you looking like you're going to the mardi gras) you can always wear gold shoes, and it matches with everything. as for the clutch, you can go with black. black is the basic color for dresses. and it goes well with every color possible.

But I agree maybe it's too much shine...well it would work if you had both the silver heels and clutch, but then wear shiny jewelry so it balances it out and wouldn't make the silvers such a big deal. Otherwise, it would stand out from your dress so much. The dress sounds really pretty; let the shoes and clutch compliment it, not stand out from it





Another option is to have one silver be more subdued, less shiny.
